Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is set to stay at Bayern Munich, amid reported interest from Manchester City, according to Sky Sports.

The Germany international is under contract with the Bundesliga leaders until June 2016, and the player's agent Uli Ferber has indicated the striker is eager to remain with the Bavarian giants.

A number of European clubs have been credited with an interest in the forward, among them defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

And reports have suggested incoming Bayern boss Pep Guardiola will target the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski when he takes the reigns at the Allianz Arena.

That move would likely leave Gomez on the sidelines. He's already been displaced in the Bayern starting XI by summer recruit Mario Mandzukic, but Gomez's agent insists his player will still be at Bayern Munich next term.

Speaking to Sport-Bild weekly, Ferber said: "Mario [Gomez] will be a player of Bayern Munich next season.

"Mario is enjoying his time at the club and does not fear any other striker in terms of competition for a first-team spot. Mario is with a very, very good club and he is out to win silverware with them."

Manchester City sold Mario Balotelli in the January transfer window, and Roberto Mancini has been linked with moves for a number of strikers at the end of the season.

But the 27-year-old Germany international seems to be keen to stay in the Bundesliga.
