Liverpool have joined a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton in the race to sign Celtic star Victor Wanyama, according to the Daily Mail.

The Kenyan international has been scouted extensively by Liverpool, and the report claims Brendan Rodgers has seen enough to prompt him to make a summer bid for the midfielder. But the Anfield club will likely face competition from a number of Premier League suitors, not least City, United and Arsenal.

Celtic are thought to value Wanyama at £10m, and as the Kenyan star only has one year left on his current deal, the Scottish champions could be tempted to sell at the end of the season.

Wanyama shot to prominence during Celtic's run to the last-16 of the Champions League this term. The 21-year-old was excellent throughout the competition, most notably against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and again at Celtic Park.

The midfielder is one of four players targeted by the Reds in what could be a momentous transfer window at Anfield. As well as several incomings, the Daily Mail suggests Rodgers may look to sell some of his high wage-earners this summer as he looks to shake-up his squad.

The report claims Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have each watched Wanyama in action, and could rival Liverpool for his signature come the end of the season.

Everton and Sunderland have also been credited with interest in the powerhouse midfielder, but they may not be able to compete financially with the likes of City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
