In order to continue improving and eventually challenge for the Premier League title again, Liverpool must make some shrewd signings this summer.

The players have taken to Brendan Rodgers' philosophy and are looking more like a unit with each passing day.

But the following are three signings that could make Liverpool a force to be reckoned with:

Christian Eriksen | Ajax

Christian Eriksen is one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe. The Denmark international has 12 months remaining on his contract, so Ajax will have to sell the player or risk losing him for nothing.

Liverpool’s scouts have constantly visited the Amsterdam Arena and will be looking to make a bid for the playmaker. The player would add real quality to the Liverpool squad and would help Luis Suarez and company be more potent in attack next season.

Dede | Vasco da Gama

The highly-rated Vasco da Gamma center-back is seen as the future of the Brazilian national team. Liverpool are interested in buying the defender to plug the hole left by the retirement of Jamie Carragher and the possible departure of Martin Skrtel.

The 24-year-old old can help bring stability at the back and his commanding presence would help with the confidence of the whole squad.

Jackson Martinez | Porto

Liverpool have had a long-term interest in Colombian forward Jackson Martinez, and his goalscoring ability is exactly what is required at Anfield.

The majority of the top clubs in Europe have three to four quality strikers in the squad and the Porto player could add a killer instinct that would give the Liverpool strike-force an edge over its competitors.

Adding these three players could really help Liverpool jump from languishing in the Europa League places to mounting a title challenge.
