Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is hopeful of replicating the same form he displayed at Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, after scoring a brace in his side’s 3-1 win over Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

The 29-year-old striker made a recording breaking £50 million move from Anfield to Stamford Bridge back in January 2011, having experienced a successful stint at Liverpool.

However, he has failed to deliver what was expected of him at west London, forcing many into rating his extravagant move to Chelsea as one of the biggest transfer flops in history.

But after playing a pivotal role in his side’s 3-1 win over Rubin Kazan on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final, Torres is optimistic of hitting top form once again and regaining the reputation of being one of the most feared strikers in European and world football.

He told the Daily Mail: "I want to do the things I used to do all my life.

"I did them at Atletico, I did them at Liverpool and I am not doing them at Chelsea. I am working on it.

"If I knew the reason, I would fix it in one minute. But the only way to fix these things is to work at it.

"I am training every day and I will never, ever give up."

Torres also dampened speculation that he is unhappy in London and is seeking a return to Spain.

"I am happy here. I am enjoying London and happy at this club," Torres added.

"I know my statistics at Chelsea have not been the same as in other years in my career. But I am fighting to get back to those statistics and I will never, ever give up."

Despite being unable to establish himself at Chelsea, Torres has enjoyed the support and backing of the fans who want to see their most expensive signing lead the club’s dominance in domestic and European competition.

And the striker, who has netted 18 goals in all competitions this season, wants to re-pay the faith put in him by the club by giving it his all.

"I will try my heart out for this club," proclaimed Torres. "There are too many things I have to give back to these people and I want to show my thanks to them.

"Hopefully this season we can give them two more trophies and next season we can fight again for the biggest ones, the Champions League and the Premier League.

"I am getting better but I'm still not at the level I want."
