Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert was obviously delighted with Matthew Lowton’s crucial goal against Stoke on Saturday – but he’s even suggested it could be the best goal in Europe.

The relegation strugglers picked up three vital points against Tony Pulis’s side at the Britannia Stadium, with Lowton putting Villa 2-1 ahead with just minutes remaining thanks to a stunning 25-yard strike.

The former-Sheffield United youngster took the ball on the chest before rifling home a volley. It was an incredible piece of skill, and one Lambert was hugely impressed with.

Speaking after the match, the Villa manager said: “I don’t think you will see a better goal in Europe let alone anywhere else than Matt Lowton’s. The technique, chest control and volley was outstanding.

“He has played every minute of every game in the league and he has been outstanding.”

Christian Benteke eventually wrapped up the points with a breakaway goal in the final seconds, giving Villa a 3-1 away win that took them out of the relegation zone.

But what do you think? Click the link here and judge for yourself – it is really one of the best goals in Europe this season?
