Lionel Messi is the major omission from the top ten of the AP’s global football rankings, with the Barcelona playmaker paying the price for his injury against PSG.

Instead, teammate Cesc Fabregas replaces the Argentine at the top of the weekly player ratings, having scored a hat-trick in the emphatic 5-0 victory against Real Mallorca at the weekend.

It wasn’t enough for the Catalan giants to take top spot in the team standings though, with Bayern Munich rewarded for claiming the Bundesliga title with six games left in the campaign.

And, weekend match-winner Bastian Schweinsteiger made almost made it a German double, coming second in the player standings behind Fabregas.

Speaking of German, striker German Denis finished joint third alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after his match-winning hat-trick for Atalanta against Inter Milan, whilst the Portuguese superstar was rewarded for his goals in the 3-0 win over Galatasaray and 5-1 victory against Levante.

Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky is also on the player list after his double led Arsenal to victory against West Bromwich Albion, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic and PSG both get the nod following their efforts against Barcelona and Rennes.

Chelsea complete the top five in the team rankings after wins against Rubin Kazan and Sunderland, with Manchester City in tenth after their 2-1 win over rivals Manchester United on Monday night.
