Dulwich Hamlet youngster Daniel Carr was wanted by Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool but the 18-year-old has signed for Championship side Huddersfield, according to the Daily Express.

Mark Robins's side won the race for the teenage striker after trials with the club. Liverpool also had Carr on trial, while Chelsea and Tottenham sent scouts to watch him in action in the Ryman One South division.

The former-Reading academy player was released by the Premier League club but snapped up by Hamlet, and has since bagged 24 goals for the non-league club.

The 18-year-old started out as a winger, but now plays up front and he'll complete the season at Dulwich before joining Huddersfield for pre-season this summer.

Terriers boss Mark Robins was delighted to have clinched the signing of the highly-rated prospect, especially considering the interest from the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool.

He said: "The club has done really well to get to the front of the queue for Daniel given the level of interest in him, as well as the calibre of interested parties - we have been very proactive in making this deal happen.

"I would also like to thank Dulwich Hamlet and their manager Gavin Rose for the way they have dealt with this deal.

"Daniel is a goalscorer and has terrific feet, I can see him playing up front and out wide. His task now is to continue his progression and development as a player for the rest of the season and once he joins us in the summer.

"His addition to the squad is in line with the club's policy of signing players with potential."

Huddersfield are believed to have paid a "small" undisclosed fee for the striker. As well as Liverpool, Carr also had trials with Leeds and Charlton, while Chelsea made enquiries with Dulwich over a potential move.
