Chelsea look to have a clear run to recruit Jose Mourinho this summer after Paris Saint-Germain denied they had any intention of signing him.

The Real Madrid manager has been tipped to leave Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, with both Chelsea and PSG linked with making an offer.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is looking for a permanent appointment in the summer as interim manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed he will not be staying on.

A number of reports have claimed the Stamford Bridge oligarch is very keen to bring back Mourinho to the club he won two consecutive Premier League titles with in 2005 and 2006.

Qatari-owned PSG would have been a formidable rival in the race for Mourinho’s signature due to their significant spending power.

However, the French club’s president, Nasser al Khelaifi, denied he would me making an approach to Mourinho.

Carlo Ancelotti, another former Chelsea boss, is currently in charge at Parc des Prince and the PSG owners are happy with him.

"He [Mourinho] is one of the best coaches in the world, but we love Carlo, who is under contract for another year,” he is quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper Marca.

Rafael Benitez appointment was met with great rancour by a significant number of Chelsea fans, with Mourinho’s name a popular choice for chants.

However, the Blues may yet be cheering the Spaniard, as they are in both the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals after a 3-2 defeat at Rubin Kazan on Thursday saw them progress 5-4 on aggregate.
