Belgium are producing some of the best young players in world football at the moment but the Belgian Pro League has just produced one of the best goals in the world.

Standard Liege were involved in a classic on Friday night against Zulte Waregem where they came back form 3-1 down to win 4-3 late on.

Such a brilliant game was graced with an equally brilliant goal by Frenchman William Vainquer to bring the game back to 1-1 in latter stages of the first half.

Zulte cleared the ball from a Liege cross but the 24-year-old was on hand to control it and fire in a thunderbolt from 35 yards, which crashed in off the crossbar.

It was a sublime strike and would have been fitting to win any game, though this time his team failed to react to it until they had conceded another two.

Nevertheless, Vainquer’s strike was certainly the highlight of the match, which is saying something as it was an outstanding match.

From the goals GMF have seen this season, that is certainly up there for goal of the season.
