England have a number of up and coming talents in their ranks, with the likes of Jack Butland, Luke Shaw & Jack Wilshere waiting to lead the Three Lions into a new era.

Here, we look at a possible future England XI, and it makes for positive reading. Perhaps the next 'golden generation' can end years of international hurt for England & Roy Hodgson?

Goalkeeper: Jack Butland | Stoke City (on loan at Birmingham)

Butland was relatively unknown when Hodgson picked him for Euro 2012. After impressive performances at the Olympics, Butland has shot to prominence and has been one of Birmingham's outstanding performers in an otherwise less than successful campaign.

Right-back: Carl Jenkinson | Arsenal

The Arsenal full-back has had a very strong season and has provided worthy competition for Bacary Sagna. Jenkinson is equally affective defensively as well as going forward and could be a future England regular.

Centre-back: Phil Jones | Manchester United

The man of many faces has incredible versatility, causing doubt over where his eventual position will be. However, Jones has proved that his best position is at centre-back. He has the maturity of someone way beyond his years and can certainly be a long-term replacement for the recently-retired John Terry.

Centre-back: Chris Smalling | Manchester United

Jones and his United teammate Smalling have the potential to build a partnership similar to that of Terry & Rio Ferdinand. Smalling's aerial ability and clever play make him one for both the present and the future.

Left-back: Luke Shaw | Southampton

Shaw, the man everyone is talking about! The left-back is the latest star to graduate from the prestigious Southampton academy and his recent performances suggest that he could be one of the best yet.

Centre-midfield: Jack Wilshere | Arsenal

He is already well known around Europe and if Wilshere fulfils his potential, he will be one of the stars of England's future. His amazing range of passing and pure appetite for winning will help him get there!

Centre-midfield: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | Arsenal

Known as a winger, Chamberlain has already stated his preferred position is in the centre of midfield; controlling the play and this is where he'll end up! His classy forward play brings around urgency and that is the one thing England needs.

Right-wing: Blair Turgott | West Ham

Blair who? The West Ham United youngster's potential is only known by a select few. Blair starred in the England Under-17's Euro success and scored a sensational hat-trick for West Ham's development squad. Watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK2NL4f6iAY

Attacking-midfield: Josh McEachran | Chelsea (on loan at Middlesbrough)

The Chelsea youngster, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, was initially the Blues' answer to Wilshere, with his incredible creativity and range of passing on par with some of La Liga's finest. McEachran is certainly one for the future.

Left-wing: Raheem Sterling | Liverpool

The Liverpool man has committed his international future to England ahead of Jamaica and could be a real match winner. His blistering pace and weaving forward runs leave him as one of Europe's most promising wingers.

Striker: Connor Wickham | Sunderland

The striker was once one of Britain's hot properties before sealing a move to Sunderland. However, his progress was initially slow-going. Now, he has found a new lease of life under Paolo Di Canio having started the Italian's first game in charge away to Chelsea, and looks a rejuvenated man with a big future.
