Jose Mourinho has responded to claims he told the president of Canillas that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, by suggesting Manuel Alvarez is merely posturing for the attention of the press.

Alravez says he has been informed by Mourinho that he will not be manager of Real Madrid beyond the summer, with the two enjoying a close relationship owning to the son of the former being on the books of Canillas.

This revelation has resulted in intensified speculation that Mourinho will leave the Santiago Bernabeu for Stamford Bridge and become the manager of Chelsea once again, although the Portuguese has moved to calm suggestions he will quit Madrid.

"If I talk about Canillas I talk about a second home for me and my son. It's a great club, but there's one problem," Mourinho told a press conference on Friday.

"The president really likes press and attention. He is a terrific person and he treats me and my son really well, but he's got this little issue.

"He really likes press, but that's not my concern. I can confirm that I told him I will not be able to give the coaching conference. Next year I can't say I will be giving the conference. I really don't think I will."

Despite his protestations, Mourinho remains the heavy favourite with bookmakers to return to Chelsea in the summer, with the Blues set to replace Rafael Benitez when his interim tenure comes to an end.

Mourinho is odds on with bookies to become Chelsea boss, with Everton's David Moyes the next best placed contender at 6/1.
