Since his arrival at Signal Iduna Park, Lukasz Piszczek has been been in great form for Borussia Dortmund and has established himself as one of the best right-backs in world football.

He has formed a great partnership with fellow Poland international Jakub Blaszczykowski, and also Mario Gotze, on the right side of midfield for Dortmund.

Piszczek moved to Germany in 2004 when he was signed by Hertha Berlin after he was the joint top-scorer in the Under-19 European Championship, but was loaned out immediately.

Upon his recall to Hertha Berlin in 2007, he was employed in defensive midfield and on the left-wing. He started playing right-back in the second half of the 2008/09 due to an injury to first-choice Arne Friedrich. He lost his place when Friedrich returned from injury but was again used in the position when Friedrich moved into the central defence position in the 2009/10 season.

He moved to Borussia Dortmund in May 2010 on a free transfer and was given a three-year contract. He went on to help Dortmund to the Bundesliga title and was immediately given a contract extension, which runs until 2016. He only managed five assists all season but he impressed in his position and did not look back from then.

He followed up his great first season at Signal Iduna Park with an even better second season, helping Dortmund to the Bundesliga and German Cup double. This time around he managed six goals and seven assists as he showed that he was the real deal. His performance led to lots of speculation that Real Madrid wanted to sign him but he decided to stay with BVB.

In the current season he has managed two goals and seven assists so far as has been a huge part for Dortmund's run in the Champions League. Dortmund may have lost the Bundesliga to Bayern Munich but Piszczek continued to show his dominance at right-back.

The 27-year-old Poland international has epitomised what Borussia Dortmund is all about - and has surely paid back Jurgen Klopp for the faith he showed in him.

He has an excellent work rate as he runs up and down the right flank endlessly from kick-off until the final whistle. He is excellent going forward as he is very comfortable on the ball, and his link-up play with the midfielders is a joy to watch.

He is always available on the right-hand side in attack but is always there when he is called upon defensively. He is a great defender who is very good in one-on-one situations and has great pace to compete with the best wingers in world football.

His understanding with Blaszczykowski and Gotze is also a reason he has impressed since his move to Signal Iduna Park. He tackles very well and his positioning is always spot-on.

He is very important to BVB as his contribution in both halves of the pitch has helped them to be successful. With his current run of form and the success he has enjoyed since his Dortmund move, Piszczek has surely put himself in the class of Dani Alves, Maicon and Philipp Lahm as one of the best right-backs in the world.

On current form, however, Piszczek may be the best right-back since 2010 because of his displays and ability in attack and defensively.
