This weekend, Theo Walcott scored Arsenal’s fastest ever Premier League goal, netting in just 20 seconds against relegated QPR. The goal was also the quickest in the league this season. Here, I look back at five of the fastest goals since the Premier League’s inception.

Ledley King – 10 seconds

The recently retired Spurs and England star often played in midfield at the beginning of his career. It was from this position that he scored the fastest Premier League goal of all-time against Bradford City in 2000/01.

Alan Shearer – 10.4 seconds

Geordie goal machine Alan Shearer scored plenty of goals for both Blackburn and Newcastle, but this strike against Manchester City in 2003 was his quickest ever, and took just a little longer than King’s.

Mark Viduka – 11.1 seconds

Mark Viduka was a master of the languid style, though he had plenty of skill to compensate for a lack of pace. Surprisingly, he is the third quickest goalscorer with his effort against Charlton while at Leeds in 2001.

Dwight Yorke – 13 seconds

Dwight Yorke was another Premier League goal machine, and was one of two scorers in 1995 that make the list, amazingly with the same time. He netted in just 13 seconds against Coventry City while still at Aston Villa, thus getting added points for scoring in a derby match.

Chris Sutton – 13 seconds

In 1995, Chris Sutton formed part of the explosive SAS partnership at Blackburn Rovers with Alan Shearer, and he is tied with Yorke as the joint fourth quickest goalscorer. Everton didn’t know what hit them, conceding to Sutton's strike after just 13 seconds.
