Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised Theo Walcott's finishing abilities after the forward struck his 20th goal of the season at the weekend.

The 2012/13 season has been the best for Walcott since joining Arsenal from Southampton in 2005, and his transition from a winger to a striker seems to be in full-flow after spending several games in the centre-forward position.

The Englishman scored his 20th goal in all competitions at the weekend during his side's 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

The goal came after just 20 seconds and it was enough to give Arsenal all three points.

The season has also been positive for Walcott off the pitch as well as on it, as in January he penned a three-year contract extension at the club worth around £100k-a-week.

The 24-year-old was stalling on signing a new contract, but after being pleased with the amount of striker opportunities he got given, he finally committed to the club.

His manager has heaped praise over him and has labelled his finishing as the most impressive thing so far this season.

“He's more mature in his finishing,” the boss told “[Against QPR] he scored a bit of a similar goal to the one against Manchester United. It's a short back-lift, he makes good runs and he's calm now in front of goal.

Walcott has now scored 13 Premier League goals, one more than the club's second top scorer in the league, Santi Cazorla.
