Chelsea have not exactly had an outstanding season - far from it, actually.

They will be looking to bolster their strike, midfield, and maybe change the manager too. I have even changed their formation to 4-1-2-1-2.

This is probably how Chelsea will line up next season.

Manager: Jose Mourinho

Yes, it does look like "The Special One" is going back home to the fans who genuinely want him back. After having a dismal season with Real Madrid, there has been a lot of speculation and Mourinho might just be in west London next season.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech

The Czech Republic international is almost surely going to spend the next season with the English giants. His spectacular performances most probably means that Thibaut Courtois is going to spend one more season with Atletico Madrid, allowing Cech to keep his position.

Right-back: Cesar Azpilicueta

The Spanish right-back has been vital to Chelsea. His speed to run down the flanks and deliver superb crosses is a gift which he possesses and even managed to push Ivanovic out of his position. He has been more efficient than the Serbian, too.

Centre-back: David Luiz

The bulky Brazilian has been extremely important to the Blues. He provides a solid defence and chips in with the occasional goal, too. He has all the properties a good centre-back should have and he has been a valuable asset to Chelsea.

Centre-back: Branislav Ivanovic

Having been pushed out of the right-back position, he has proved to be an excellent centre-back. His ability in the air and powerful build mark him out as a centre-back. He provides the stability to Chelsea’s back four.

Left-back: Ashley Cole

After signing a new one-year contract with Chelsea, there has been no doubt as to whom will occupy the left-back position for the upcoming season. However, with young Ryan Bertrand present in the squad, and there being continued interest in 17-year-old Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw, it looks like Cole’s position is in peril for the later seasons.

Defensive-midfielder: Sami Khedira

The German midfielder was practically a nobody before his transfer to Real Madrid. His overall performances have been useful to the Madrid side and he has been on Chelsea’s radar. He is a potential replacement for Frank Lampard and will provide the balance of play to Chelsea.

Left-wing: Eden Hazard

The Belgian winger’s hefty £32m transfer to Chelsea raised many eyebrows. However, he has proved the critics wrong and has impressed many with his magic dribbling and skills.

His ability to run rings around defenders is treasured by Chelsea. He also has knack for scoring goals, brilliant ones too. He is a precocious player and has the talent to do wonderful things with a football.

Right-wing: Oscar

The Brazilian maestro has been excellent for Chelsea. His speed, dribbling and precision passes has been an asset to the Chelsea side. Like Hazard, he is extremely young, but extremely talented. His performances in Europe and England are simply outstanding.

Attacking-midfielder: Juan Mata

The Spain international is arguably the best from the ‘Mazacar’ trio. His perfect passes, goals and dribbling has been Chelsea’s best asset so far. He is on the top of the assists charts in the Premier League this season and was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award. Chelsea will by no means be getting rid of him.

Striker: Demba Ba

Despite Torres’s recent impressive performances, Ba is a better overall striker and beats Torres to this position. His ‘acrobatic’ performances have steered Chelsea to better results. He has a knack for scoring important goals and is extremely valuable to the club.

Striker: Radamel Falcao

Ever since he embarrassingly exposed Chelsea’s defensive problems, he has been watched by the west London club. He has been invaluable to Atletico Madrid and is third on the scoring charts of the La Liga. His accurate shots and headers, his strength and his knack for goals is what Chelsea will be looking for in him.

Subs: Ross Turnbull, John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Yossi Benayoun, Ryan Bertrand, Fernando Torres, Victor Moses, Marko Marin
