David Moyes is the preferred manager to take over the reigns at Old Trafford, as he has proven, time and time again that he has what it takes to succeed at the very top level with Everton.

Here is a list of reasons why I believe that Moyes will be successful at Manchester United:

Moyes is the epitome of loyalty and his sheer determination to grind out results has resulted in his Everton team constantly over performing and finishing in the top eight for the last eight seasons. He has always been able to get the best out of his players and his style of play suits that of Manchester United as he looks to play dominating yet classy football.

Relationship with board

Moyes has always maintained a healthy relationship with the Bill Kenwright because of his never-say-die attitude which rubs off on his players. Manchester United will be looking for a manager who is able to communicate with the board who also has the knowledge to cope with the pressures of managing a club independently. The better the relationship with the board the more free rein he will get and the more money he will get for transfer activity.

Everton have never been a very rich football club and thus the money has rarely been available for David Moyes but this is what makes him so special as he is able to assemble a team, year after year, that challenged for Europe. Whereas at United he will receive a huge sum of money to transform the current domestic champions into European champions however he won't just throw the money around on a whim. His years at Everton have taught him something - that talent can still be bought and nurtured for a low price.

Managerial approach

Moyes does not have the flair of Mourinho or the style of Mancini but what he does have is a thorough understanding of the game in all it's aspects. The Scotsman will take the same 'no-nonsense' rule that was so apparent under Ferguson and so getting to grips with the new routine of the club will not be so hard for the players. What's more I doubt there is a more down-to-earth manager in the league than Moyes and on account of this he will command the respect of his players.

Not alone

I don't think that David Moyes is prematurely jumping into the deep end but this is the biggest challenge of his career so far. But he is not alone. Ferguson himself recommended Moyes when he stepped down and this will do wonders for both the confidence of Moyes but also the fans. Not only will Ferguson be there to guide Moyes for the first part of the chapter but also Ryan Giggs will be a massive help in welcoming and integrating Moyes and his policies. Giggs has spoken fondly of Moyes in the past and will have no trouble adapting to life under the new manager.

Do you think Moyes is a good choice? Or not? Leave a comment.
