Schalke Youngster Julian Draxler has put an end to speculation over his future by penning a new long-term deal with the Bundesliga club.

The 19-year-old has earned rave reviews for his performances this season, and has been linked with a move to numerous big-name clubs.

Arsenal were said to be interested in him, while Borussia Dortmund were also believed to be keeping tabs on the talented youngster.

However the German international has signalled his intent to stay with Schalke by reportedly putting pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him in Gelsenkirchen until 2018.

Schalke are expected to confirm the news of Draxler's new contract in the coming days.

While Arsenal's interest became apparent over the summer, Dortmund appeared to preparing to make a move for Draxler at the end of the season.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt confirmed earlier this week Dortmund's long-standing interest in the young forward.

"For some time, Borussia Dortmund have been working on [trying to sign] Draxler," he said. It is something that does not surprise me given that Julian is one of the best players in the Bundesliga."

With Draxler off the market, Arsenal will have to look elsewhere if they wish to bolster their squad.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.
